lore-skool — Terms of Service

1. What lore-skool is

lore-skool helps a parent or guardian understand and connect with their child's media and story world, through a guided quiz and the read — the shared picture it hands back. It's a tool for connection and play between the grown-ups and kids of one family.

2. What lore-skool is not

This matters, so we're saying it plainly and you're agreeing to it plainly:

• lore-skool is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, educational, or developmental advice, assessment, screening, or diagnosis — of your child, of you, or of your relationship. Nothing it produces should be treated or relied on as any of those things.
• It is not a safeguarding, monitoring, or surveillance tool, and must not be used as one.
• It is not crisis support. If you are worried about your child's safety, wellbeing, or mental health, speak to a qualified professional — your family doctor, your child's school, or your local emergency or crisis services. lore-skool is never the right place for that, and we say so with love.
• The read is generated with the help of AI. AI-generated content can be incomplete, imprecise, or simply wrong — including about the things that matter most. Everything lore-skool shows you is a conversation starter, not a verdict. Your judgment as a parent always comes first, and you agree that you remain responsible for how you use what the app gives you and for your interactions with your child.

3. Who can use it

lore-skool is operated by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over. Children participate with, and under the supervision of, their own parent or guardian. By using lore-skool you confirm you are the parent/guardian of any child involved, or have that person's permission.

4. Subscription and payment

lore-skool is offered on subscription — €14.99 per year per family, covering the children of your household, used together on your family's device. We may offer additional billing periods (such as quarterly) at the prices shown at checkout; the price and billing period you select at checkout are the ones that apply.

Payments are processed by Paddle, acting as Merchant of Record — Paddle is the seller of record for the transaction and its terms govern the payment. We never see your card details. Your subscription renews at the end of each billing period unless cancelled; you can cancel anytime and your access runs to the end of the paid period.

Prices are shown inclusive of applicable VAT, which Paddle collects and remits based on your country.

Complimentary access. We may grant free access (for example, to test families, reviewers, or as a goodwill gesture) at our discretion. Complimentary access is not a subscription: it can be modified or withdrawn at any time, and it does not confer Founding Families status, the founding price, or any other subscriber entitlement unless and until you subscribe.

5. Founding Families

The first 1,000 subscribing families ("Founding Families") pay €9.99 per year — for life. Here is exactly what that means, so there's never a quarrel about it:

• The price lock covers your subscription to the lore-skool core service — the plan you purchased. As long as your subscription remains continuously active, your renewal price for that plan stays €9.99/year. We will never raise it on you.
• Improvements and updates to the core service are included. As lore-skool gets better, Founding Families get the better version at the founding price.
• Separately priced products are separate. We may in future introduce optional additional products, tiers, features, or seats at their own pricing. The founding price lock applies to the core service plan, not automatically to everything we ever build. We'll always be clear about what's part of your plan and what's a separate option.
• One founding perk, promised now: when additional caregiver seats launch (allowing a second parent or grandparent their own access), Founding Families receive their first additional caregiver seat included at no extra charge, for as long as their founding subscription remains active.
• Continuity condition: the founding price holds while your subscription is continuously active. If you cancel or your subscription lapses and you later return, you rejoin at the then-current pricing.

6. Refunds

If you're not happy, tell us within 14 days of purchase at grownups@lore-skool.com and we'll refund you in full — no interrogation. Full details in our Refund Policy. This sits alongside, and does not limit, your statutory rights as a consumer.

7. Your content

The answers, records, and family material you create in lore-skool are yours. We claim no ownership of them. They live on your device, in your control (see our Privacy Policy). You're responsible for what you and your family enter.

8. Our content

The lore-skool application, design, wording, question craft, and systems are owned by Loader Labs B.V. You receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use them for your own family. Please don't copy, resell, scrape, reverse-engineer, or build competing services from them.

9. Acceptable use

Use lore-skool for what it's for: your own family, in good faith. You agree not to:

• use it in any way intended or likely to distress, manipulate, shame, or harm a child;
• use it to monitor or profile a child covertly;
• attempt to bypass access controls, rate limits, or payment;
• use automated means to access the service or extract its content;
• use it for any unlawful purpose.

We may suspend access for misuse.

10. AI-generated content

Parts of lore-skool's output are produced by artificial intelligence based on the answers your family provides. We design and constrain these systems carefully, but we cannot and do not guarantee that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, appropriate to your specific circumstances, or free of error. You accept the nature of AI-generated content as described in Section 2 and agree to apply your own judgment.

Every family gets the same models. We do not degrade quality when you have used the product a lot, and we do not reserve better results for higher-priced plans.

11. Availability and changes

We aim to keep lore-skool running well, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may update, improve, or change features over time. We won't materially degrade the substance of what a current subscriber has paid for during their paid period; where the law requires updates to keep the service in conformity, we'll provide them.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud), and nothing limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that: the service is provided "as is", and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the total liability of Loader Labs B.V. arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for decisions you make, or actions you take, in reliance on the app's content — see Section 2.

13. Termination

You can stop using lore-skool and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, with refund of any unused paid period except in cases of serious misuse.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes fall under the competent Dutch courts, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you additional rights or a different forum — in which case those apply.

15. Changes to these terms

We'll post any changes here with a new date, and for material changes affecting current subscribers we'll tell you before they take effect. Continued use after changes take effect means acceptance.
